About the Artist
In early autumn, journeyed across Thailand and on to Burma, where visited numerous Buddhist shrines and pagodas at archaeological sites throughout Pagan and Mandalay. Then went across Malaysia to Singapore and on to Amsterdam, the Hague, and Bruxelles. Saw Ruben’s 400th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Then, on to Rome and Florence before returning to Hong Kong :
Gerard in Thailand and Burma
Executed a free standing bronze sculpture in 1978 for FORTUNE (AUST.) PTY LTD. in Sydney, Australia. Designed and completed Marco Polo Mural for the first class lounge, and panels throughout interior of new Boeing 747 for Cathay Pacific Airways, Ltd. :
Returned in 1979 from a sojourn across the Himalayan Kingdoms of Bhutan, “Land of the Thunder Dragon” and Sikkim, visiting ancient fortresses, lamaseries and shrines. Also visited Darjeeling during this trip :
1980 – Visited Seattle and Los Angeles, where work was exhibited. Spent time in San Francisco, Dallas and New York, where he gave a lecture to the ‘Young Poets of America’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
1981 – Invited to Hawaii and Maui and received commission to create a giant fresco at the Royal Hawaiian Centre depicting Kwan Yin, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, now in a private collection in Singapore.
Also, completed two large paintings for the Maui Hyatt Regency Hotel :
Commissioned in 1981 to execute two murals for the Kuwait Hyatt Regency Palace , Kuwait :
1988, Commissioned to create two sculptural walls in ceramic and stone for the Bond Centre in Hong Kong, now the Lippo Centre :

Traveled to China in 1989 to complete an 8 meter long mural for the lobby of The Peace Hotel in Beijing :
